Actor Rajpal Yadav recently opened up about his days in Tihar Jail, where he was sent in connection with a ₹9 crore debt and cheque bounce case. The actor, who was granted interim bail in February, reflected on his experience during a candid chat with filmmaker Farah Khan.
During the conversation, Rajpal revealed that he had to stay disciplined and serve his time properly while in jail. He also expressed his gratitude to those who came out in his support and helped him financially.
The debt case against Rajpal dates back to 2010, when he took a loan of ₹5 crore to finance his directorial debut, Ata Pata Laapata. However, the film's poor box office performance led to financial losses, and he was unable to repay the amount, triggering a legal dispute.
Rajpal was later granted interim bail after depositing ₹1.5 crore, and the Delhi High Court extended the relief, stating that he would not be taken back into custody even after the earlier interim order was set aside.
The actor is currently awaiting the release of Bhooth Bangla, a horror-comedy directed by Priyadarshan, which is scheduled to release in cinemas on April 17.
