Ram Charan's highly anticipated sports drama Peddi has maintained a strong run at the box office, collecting ₹31.90 crore on its fourth day of release. The film, directed by Buchi Babu Sana, has been a subject of debate over the portrayal of Janhvi Kapoor's character, Achiyamma.
Despite the controversy, Peddi has collected ₹186.69 crore in total India gross and ₹157.15 crore in total India net. The film's opening day haul remains its highest single-day collection, with ₹51 crore earned on its first day.
Director Buchi Babu Sana has released a statement addressing the criticism, apologising to viewers who felt uncomfortable and acknowledging the need for cinema to evolve alongside changing perspectives and sensitivities.
