Peddi, the sports action drama starring Ram Charan and Janhvi Kapoor, has witnessed a slowdown in its second week at the box office. The film, which was released on June 4, has collected ₹2.90 crore on day 13, a dip compared to Monday's collection of ₹4.10 crore.
Despite the criticism over the portrayal and hypersexualisation of Janhvi Kapoor's character, Peddi has crossed the ₹200 crore net mark in India. The film has collected ₹20 crore in advance bookings on the first day and was released in theatres on Thursday across 3000 screens.
By the end of its first week, the collections stood at ₹193.55 crore. After Tuesday's haul, the total India gross collections stood at ₹264.38 crore and total India net to ₹223.00 crore so far.
The film, directed and written by Buchi Babu Sana, has been praised for tackling an important topic but has also been criticised for the portrayal of Janhvi's role. An extended version of the film will hit theatres on June 17, which will reintroduce three specific scenes that were previously left out.
