Actor Rana Daggubati has opened up about the immense physical and mental toll the film Baahubali took on him during its making. The film, directed by SS Rajamouli, redefined the scale of Indian cinema and set a new benchmark for storytelling, action, and visual spectacle.
Rana Daggubati, who played the role of Bhallaladeva in the film, admitted that it was difficult to single out just one moment that took the greatest physical and mental toll on him. He said that the entire process was demanding and that the team was pushing everyone's boundaries.
The film's long production timeline of six to seven years was a major achievement, according to Rana. He explained that the team was attempting something genuinely ambitious and previously unseen in Indian cinema. The transformation he underwent for the role made him wonder whether audiences would still recognise him in the same way after the film.
Rana recalled how the first person to recognise him after the transformation was an immigration officer who was African-American. He said that this film is ageing beautifully and that cinema creates an impact that doesn't go off.
