Bollywood actor Anupam Kher is celebrating the massive success of Aditya Dhar's spy thriller Dhurandhar, which stars Ranveer Singh and Akshaye Khanna. Kher believes the film's reception is a direct slap in the face of those who labeled it propaganda, echoing similar sentiments he had about his own film The Accidental Prime Minister. A certain section of people had branded Kher's film as propaganda and were successful in doing so. However, Dhurandhar's success has proven them wrong, and Kher couldn't be happier. He praised director Aditya Dhar for relying on his conviction instead of any pattern or formula while making the film. Kher also highlighted the importance of landmark films that give a new perspective to cine-goers and praised Dhurandhar for doing just that. He mentioned that films like Godfather, Sholay, and Mughal-e-Azam were pathbreaking and set a new standard for the industry. The actor also addressed the issue of people calling Dhurandhar a propaganda film, saying that it's a big slap on their faces. He stressed that some people want to make art look small for selfish purposes and feels proud that the art turns around and slaps them back, saying 'you can't make me look small.' Kher also congratulated Aditya Dhar on the film's success and praised him for his courage and conviction. The film's success has also touched the heart of Aditya Dhar, who expressed his gratitude towards Kher's kind words. Dhurandhar has emerged as the #1 film of 2025 and has entered the ₹1000 crore club within 21 days of its release. The film's sequel, Dhurandhar 2, is slated for release on March 19, 2026.
