Actor-filmmaker Samuthirakani has doubled down on his comments about Vijay and Trisha, stating that he knew he was being recorded when he made the remarks.
Samuthirakani was promoting his upcoming film Carmeni Selvam in Hyderabad when he was asked about a viral video in which he was heard criticising Vijay after his public appearance with Trisha Krishnan at a Chennai wedding.
He revealed that he was aware he was being recorded and stands by his statements, saying that he expressed his pain and frustration with Vijay's actions.
Samuthirakani also stated that he was among the first to support Vijay's entry into politics, which is why this pained him.
The controversy surrounds Vijay's relationship with Trisha and his upcoming election campaign, with many, including Samuthirakani and R Parthiban, criticising him for his actions.
Carmeni Selvam, starring Gautham Vasudev Menon, Abhinaya, and others, is set to be released in theatres on April 3.
