Actor Sunny Deol's next film has been officially retitled to Batwara 1947. The release date has also been confirmed for August 14th, 2026. The film, directed by Rajkumar Santoshi, stars Sunny Deol alongside Preity Zinta, Shabana Azmi, Ali Fazal, and Karan Deol.
The title change happened because Aamir Khan, the film's producer, did not want to name it Lahore 1947. However, the rights to the title Batwara belonged to late producer Salim Akhtar's family, whom Aamir reportedly convinced to part with the title.
Preity Zinta is making her acting comeback with Batwara 1947, which is about the Partition of India. The film's story will be set in 1947, a time of great turmoil and change in Indian history.
