Karuppu, the devotional fantasy action drama film starring Suriya and Trisha Krishnan, has maintained a steady hold at the box office despite a weekday dip. The film, directed by RJ Balaji, has crossed ₹114.05 crore in its first week worldwide.
After a stellar first weekend, Karuppu saw a dip on Monday, collecting ₹14.30 crore and ₹12.75 crore on Tuesday. On Wednesday, the film saw a further dip and collected only ₹10.30 crore. On its first Thursday, the film collected ₹8.30 crore against 5,140 shows.
The film collected ₹7.00 crore in Tamil and ₹1.30 crore in Telugu. Several celebrities took to social media to praise Karuppu, with Atlee calling it a 'complete treat for family audience' and a 'pure mass commercial blockbuster.'
Suriya's wife, Jyotika, also expressed her overwhelming joy at the film's success, saying that Suriya loves telling good stories and making sure there's a story in every film.
