Actor Udaybir Sandhu, known for his role in Dhurandhar: The Revenge, has opened up about a pivotal moment in his career. He revealed that he had auditioned for the lead role in Amar Singh Chamkila (2024) and was actually liked for the part, but it went to Diljit Dosanjh instead.

According to Udaybir, director Imtiaz Ali wanted a singer for the role and didn't think a non-singer could perform it. However, Udaybir holds no bitterness and believes Diljit did a great job in the film.

Interestingly, Udaybir's audition for Amar Singh Chamkila helped him land another role in the film, playing the late Punjabi singer Shinda. He believes the struggles he faced have made his current success more meaningful.

Udaybir debuted in Hindi films with Akshay Kumar's Gold (2018) and has also worked as a model in India and South Africa. Prior to Dhurandhar: The Revenge, he featured in Ikk Kudi opposite Shehnaaz Gill.
