Vedang Raina, a young actor, has been making waves in the industry with his diverse roles. His latest, Main Vaapas Aaunga, sees him play a youngster from rural Punjab in pre-Partition times. In an exclusive chat with Hindustan Times, Vedang opens up on the character and his preparation for it.
For Vedang, preparation involved immersing himself in the era's music. He created a playlist featuring jazz, an old Frank Sinatra song, and Punjabi folk music. He also used artificial intelligence to research the weather in 1947, giving him a deeper understanding of the world his character inhabited.
Main Vaapas Aaunga is a love story set in two timelines, with Vedang and Sharvari playing a young couple separated by the Partition. The film, directed by Imtiaz Ali, also stars Diljit Dosanjh and Naseeruddin Shah. It will release in theatres on June 12.
