Actor and Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK) chief Vijay has been on a spiritual tour since the Tamil Nadu elections. Thousands of his fans gathered at Velankanni church, one of the most well-known churches in Tamil Nadu, in hopes of meeting him. Videos show fans chanting TVK and cheering inside and outside the church, despite being asked to maintain peace by church authorities.

The fans, who were waiting for Vijay to turn up, were slammed online for lacking civic sense. This is not the first time Vijay's fans have been criticized for disrupting public events - they recently took over the Madurai Chithirai temple festival. Vijay has been campaigning extensively across Tamil Nadu ahead of the election results on May 4.

It remains to be seen whether Vijay will be fruitful on his first try in politics. He recently visited several temples, including the Shirdi Sai Baba Temple in Maharashtra and the Tiruchendur Murugan Temple in Tamil Nadu. Vijay's fans also waved TVK's trademark yellow and red flags at Wonderla and played the party song on loudspeakers near the wave pool.
