Vishnu Vishal, the star of the box office failure Lal Salaam, has taken responsibility for the film's disappointing performance. Speaking to Rednool, he revealed that he apologized to Netflix after the film's OTT release was delayed.

According to Vishnu, Netflix asked him why he was worrying about the film's failure, but he insisted on taking ownership. The platform reportedly told him that the film's failure was due to its attempt to 'do business with Superstar Rajinikanth,' who appeared in an extended cameo in the film.

Lal Salaam, directed by Aishwarya Rajinikanth and produced by Lyca Productions, was released in theatres in 2024 but received a mixed response from critics and audiences. The film earned ₹17.74 crore in India and ₹31.25 crore worldwide, but its failure caused financial strain for the production house.

Vishnu will next be seen in Gatta Kusthi 2, a sequel to the 2022 hit, alongside Aishwarya Lekshmi. The film is set for a worldwide theatrical release on July 3.
