Telugu film producer Naga Vamsi has finally spoken out about the financial implications of his distribution deal for Ayan Mukerji's War 2, starring Hrithik Roshan and Jr NTR. Vamsi had been the distributor of the film in Telugu, investing ₹68 crore. Despite initial reports suggesting he had incurred massive losses, he clarified that he only incurred a relatively small loss due to the film's performance. According to Vamsi, Yash Raj Films (YRF) refunded ₹18 crore to him, fulfilling their pre-agreed condition. This was a significant gesture, considering YRF is a Bombay-based corporate production house. The film's lukewarm reception and lackluster box office performance in Telugu had sparked concerns about Vamsi's financial situation. In an earlier interview, Vamsi had expressed his expectations for the film's performance, stating that it needed to collect more in Telugu than in Hindi. However, the film's worldwide collection of ₹364.35 crore was not enough to meet these expectations. Vamsi has now acknowledged that he may have been overly optimistic about the film's prospects. The producer has put the blame squarely on YRF, stating that they made a mistake, which ultimately affected him financially. Despite this setback, Vamsi remains optimistic and has vowed to continue producing films, citing his experience as a valuable learning opportunity.
