The promotional material for Toxic: A Fairy Tale for Grown-Ups has faced backlash for its sensual scenes, but lead actor and producer Yash insists director Geetu Mohandas brought a 'female gaze' to the action film.

At CinemaCon, Yash praised Geetu's approach, saying it's 'very new and refreshing' to see a woman director helm an action film like Toxic.

He credited Geetu with showing romance and sensuality in a way that's 'entirely different' from what he's experienced with male directors.

The film's sensual scenes have been a topic of debate, with some critics accusing them of being too explicit.

However, Yash defended Geetu's vision, saying she has a 'strong conviction' and is a 'fabulous writer'.

Toxic was originally set to release on March 19, but was postponed due to the West Asia conflict and will now hit theaters on June 4.
