Zayed Khan Defends Mom's Hindu Funeral Rites: 'We Don't Need to Explain'

Last year, former actor Zarine Khan passed away at her Mumbai residence, following which visuals of her son Zayed Khan performing her last rites as per Hindu rituals emerged, sparking conversation online.

Zayed has revealed that it was his mother’s final wish for her ashes to be immersed in a river.

Addressing the backlash, Zayed shared that ‘insaaniyat’ (humanity) is the foremost religion in his home and that his family is secular.

He went on to reveal his mother’s last wish, saying she wanted her ashes to flow in a river, and that whatever her last wishes, they will be done, regardless of what others say.

Zarine Khan, 81, passed away on November 7 last year due to age-related ailments.

She appeared in the Hindi film Tere Ghar Ke Samne (1963) and is survived by her husband Sanjay and their children, including Zayed and Sussanne Khan.
