A local report described the suspect as a 'Black male wearing a hoodie and jeans' who fled in a grey sedan, with some reports suggesting the vehicle may have been a grey or silver Mercedes-Benz.
One scanner report claimed that a BB gun was used, and the victim suffered a surface wound to the chin.
The Toms River Police Department has yet to issue an official statement on the incident, and Ocean County Mall has been closed as a precaution.
