Afghanistan's Foreign Ministry has announced that peace talks with Pakistan, held in China, have been constructive.

The talks, which began last week in the western Chinese city of Urumqi, aimed to halt cross-border fighting between the two neighbors.

According to the United Nations, the conflict has displaced 94,000 people and 100,000 people in two Afghan districts near the border have been completely cut off since February.

Afghanistan's Foreign Minister Amir Khan Muttaqi expressed hope that minor interpretations would not hinder the progress of the negotiations.

Pakistan has vowed to continue counterterrorism operations until 'militant safe havens' are eliminated and 'the use of Afghan territory against Pakistan' ends.
