A California man, Jason Thomas Nichols, has seen his bail surge to $250,000 after a child molestation charge was added to his existing case. The 30-year-old was initially arrested for a home invasion on April 7, where he broke into a residence claiming to be a wizard from a fantasy series.

Nichols had gained notoriety earlier for a viral Ring doorbell video, where he insisted on seeing a child while dressed in a black trench coat and flip flops. The new charge relates to an alleged incident on April 5, involving a different child, and has increased his bail from the initial $35,000.

The Fairfield Police Department has confirmed that the new charge of annoying or molesting a child under 18 pertains to an alleged encounter between Nichols and a child of a witness. The department has not disclosed additional details due to the sensitive nature of the case and the involvement of a minor.

Nichols is currently in custody, and his motive for the break-in has yet to be established. The incident occurred on April 7, when Nichols broke into the residence, rummaged through rooms, and shouted obscenities while demanding to locate the girl.
