Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau has expressed condolences for the deaths of two police officers killed in the line of duty this week.

Indo-Canadian provincial constable Tarun Bali was killed on Tuesday in Ontario, while Toronto Police Constable Marc Pinizzotto was shot during an operation on Thursday.

Two teenagers, 18-year-old Justin Veronneau and 19-year-old Nicholas Bennett, have been charged with first-degree murder in connection with their deaths.

The Toronto landmark, CN Tower, dimmed its lights for five minutes every hour to honour the fallen officers.

Pinizzotto's death occurred during an investigation linked to a national security incident at the United States Consulate in March.

Police are still searching for another suspect, 19-year-old Zara Jabbi.
