A vegetation fire broke out in the 1400 Block of Catalpa Ct, Fort Collins, Colorado, on Thursday, with the blaze dubbed the Catalpa Fire. The fire, estimated to be 5 acres in size, was reported to be moving south near the 'A' area, but localized evacuations have been ordered to stop its southern spread.
Residents west of Overland Trail, south of Elizabeth St to Dixon Canyon Rd, received a level 3 evacuation order. The fire is close to the Colorado State University Foothills Campus and the Maxwell Natural area by Horsetooth Reservoir.
A cause for the fire has not been determined, and the Fort Collins Fire Department has yet to comment. Several residents shared images of the fire, with some reporting the smell of smoke and hearing sirens from emergency vehicles.
