The arrest of former CIA officer David Rush for theft of government property has sent shockwaves, with the FBI seizing $40 million worth of gold bars from his Virginia home.
Rush allegedly faked his background details, including educational degrees from Clemson University and Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute.
Some social media users are trying to link Rush to the Democratic Party, citing his alleged involvement in the theft between 2009 and 2026, during Barack Obama's presidency.
However, the CIA prohibits public affiliation with any party, and Rush's actual background shows he enlisted in the US Navy in 1997 and was honorably discharged in 2015.
Rush is charged with criminal theft of public money, and the FBI had been probing him since November 2025.
