On Monday, one of Iowa's high-profile cold cases came to a close with the arrest of Kristin Ramsey, the suspect in the 2011 murder of Ashley Okland. West Des Moines police revealed that Ramsey worked for Rottlund Homes, the builder behind the model townhouse Okland was showing when she was fatally shot twice.
Ramsey, who also worked for Midland Title & Escrow, a company part of Iowa Realty, has been charged with one count of murder. The real estate connection between Okland and the suspect has sparked speculation.
Assistant Police Chief Jody Hayes said that the murder of Okland 'kept many of us awake at night.' Iowa Realty released a statement expressing shock that Okland's murder suspect worked for a company part of Iowa Realty.
