Canadian law enforcement officers searched the home of former Calgary Mayor Jyoti Gondek in connection with a corruption investigation.
Gondek confirmed the search and seizure of her cellphone, stating she's been cooperative and respects the legal process.
She expressed concerns over the invasive nature of the search, which was linked to allegations of corruption involving a business.
Similar searches were conducted for two sitting city councillors, Andre Chabot and Sean Chu.
Gondek, an Indo-Canadian, was Calgary's 37th Mayor and first female leader, serving from 2021 until her ousting in the 2025 election.
No charges have been filed, and details of the investigation remain scarce.
