A Haitian illegal immigrant, Rolbert Joachim, has been arrested for allegedly bludgeoning a mother to death with a hammer in broad daylight outside a gas station in Fort Myers, Florida on April 3.
The 40-year-old suspect was caught and released by the Biden administration in 2022 and was granted Temporary Protected Status, which expired in 2024.
The victim, a store clerk and mother of two teenage daughters, was identified as a woman whose identity has not yet been revealed.
According to surveillance footage, Joachim smashed the victim's car windshield, approached her, and repeatedly hit her in the head with a hammer, violently killing her.
Joachim is charged with second-degree murder and criminal damage to property, and ICE has lodged a detainer against him, ensuring he will be deported regardless of the outcome of the case.
