Joint Base McGuire-Dix-Lakehurst, which includes Fort Dix, was placed on lockdown on Tuesday after suspicious packages were reported on the installation. However, an assessment found no threat.

According to a statement from McGuire Air Force Base, security forces and first responders responded quickly and secured the area, determining the packages posed no threat.

The base was at FPCON Charlie, a high-level military threat condition indicating a likely terrorist attack or targeting against personnel/facilities.

FPCON Charlie requires increased security measures, including 100% ID card checks, and personnel are advised to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activity.

The lockdown comes amid heightened security concerns nationwide, particularly with the ongoing war with Iran.

Several social media users reacted to the incident, with some questioning the decision to evacuate non-essential personnel and others expressing relief that there was no threat.
