Hours after a two-week ceasefire with Iran, Tehran closed the Strait of Hormuz again in response to Israeli attacks in Lebanon, news agency AP reported.

Iran agreed to re-open the Strait of Hormuz for two weeks after the US announced a ceasefire with Iran, with talks scheduled to take place in Islamabad on Friday.

Following the closure, Iran has reportedly announced alternative routes for ships travelling through the Strait of Hormuz, citing the risk of sea mines in the main zone of the vital waterway.

The escalation has placed the fragile US-Iran truce under strain, with Tehran warning of a strong response and closing the Strait of Hormuz shortly after signalling it would reopen it.
