A Houston Police Department officer, Ashley Gonzalez, has been suspended after a viral social media video appeared to show her going on a racist rant against Black people.
The HPD acknowledged the video and is investigating, but has not confirmed if the individual in the video is indeed Gonzalez.
Gonzalez, a US Army Cadet Academy graduate and former US Navy member, can allegedly be seen using racial remarks and saying she 'hated Black people' in the video.
The Houston Police Officers' Union has condemned the comments as 'racist' and 'offensive,' and the HPD is working to confirm the authenticity of the video.
