A day after Iran warned of a potential blockade in the Bab al-Mandab Strait, Yemen's Houthi militant group stated they are 'ready to join the war' against the US and Israel.
The Houthi leader told Reuters that the group stands 'fully militarily ready with all options' and is monitoring developments before determining the 'zero hour' to move.
The threat comes as Iran has been 'doing well and defeating the enemy every day,' according to the Houthi leader, who added that the battle is 'going in its direction.'
The Houthi movement, part of Iran's Axis of Resistance, has a history of carrying out attacks in the Red Sea, particularly on ships linked to the US, Israel, and other Western nations.
The US State Department designated the Houthis as a foreign terrorist organisation in March 2025, citing threats to American civilians and personnel in the Middle East.
A blockade in the Bab al-Mandab Strait, which connects the Red Sea to the Gulf of Aden and the Indian Ocean, could render the Red Sea route unsafe and disrupt global trade, energy, and oil supply.
