A 52-year-old Indian man has been arrested and charged after allegedly sexually assaulting a woman on a flight to Perth, Australia.
The incident occurred on a Scoot Airlines flight from Singapore, where the man, identified as Sudhir Kumar Chahuan, committed 'non-consensual sexual acts' during the flight.
The woman informed the cabin crew, who moved her to another seat and kept an eye on the man for the rest of the journey.
Upon landing, federal police boarded the plane, took Chauhan to an interview room, and arrested him.
Chauhan has been charged with one count of sexual intercourse without consent, which carries a maximum sentence of 12 years in prison, and multiple counts of indecency without consent, which carry a maximum sentence of seven years.
He has been kept in custody and his next hearing is set for Friday.
