Iran's foreign ministry has denied claims of talks with the US, saying President Trump has backed down on his threat to attack the country's energy infrastructure.
The Iranian embassy in Kabul posted a response titled 'Trump's Retreat After Iran's Firm Warning', stating that Trump had issued an order to postpone the attack after Iran threatened to target the energy infrastructure of the entire region.
Fars news agency cited an unnamed source saying 'there are no direct or indirect communications' with the US, and that Trump 'backed down' on targeting Iranian power plants.
The US President had said he had held 'productive' talks with Iran over the past two days, but provided little detail.
Iranian state television flashed a graphic on screen: 'US president backs down following Iran's firm warning.'
