In a move that could escalate tensions in West Asia, the Iranian Navy has reportedly struck the US aircraft carrier USS Abraham Lincoln.

The strike comes as the US seeks a month-long ceasefire as part of its 15-point plan presented to Iran.

A statement from the Iran military said Qader cruise missiles targeted the USS Abraham Lincoln, forcing it to change position.

A purported video of the strike was shared by Iran's Fars news agency, showing projectiles in the sky and loud booms in the background.

Iran's naval commander had warned earlier that the aircraft carrier would be targeted if it entered the range of Iran's missile system.

This is not the first time the USS Abraham Lincoln has been targeted, with four ballistic missiles striking it earlier this month.
