A group of Iran-linked hackers, known as Handala Hack Team, claimed to have accessed the personal inbox of FBI Director Kash Patel and published photographs of him along with his purported resume online.

The breach was confirmed by a justice department official, who stated that the published emails are seemingly authentic.

The hackers, who are a self-proclaimed pro-Palestinian vigilante group, have been linked to Iranian government cyberintelligence units.

The FBI has yet to comment on the breach, and the hackers have not responded to Reuters' outreach.
