Israel reported that an Iranian missile exploded over Jerusalem's Old City, with fragments falling near the Al-Aqsa Mosque, a holy site for Christians, Muslims, and Jews.
A photo shared by Israel showed a large metal ring, believed to be part of the missile, on the roof of a structure adjacent to the Holy Sepulchre.
No casualties or major damage were reported at the Al-Aqsa Mosque, despite the incident unfolding after shrapnel and debris from Israeli interceptors fell around the Old City.
The Israeli Police secured the sites and are working to eliminate any risk to the public, as the holy city remains on high alert due to retaliatory strikes from Iran.
