Iran announced the Strait of Hormuz will reopen for all commercial vessels until the ceasefire remains in place. The announcement was made by Iran Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi, following a ceasefire deal between Israel and Lebanon.

US President Donald Trump reacted to the news, saying 'Thank you!' for the reopening of the crucial passageway, which he referred to as the 'Strait of Iran.'

The Strait of Hormuz is a key gateway between the Persian Gulf and the Gulf of Oman, with around 40% of the global oil trade passing through it.

Following the reopening announcement, the UK stated that over a dozen countries are willing to join an international mission to protect shipping in the Strait of Hormuz when conditions permit.
