A diplomatic standoff between the US and Iran has centered around a contentious term: 'nuclear dust.'
US President Donald Trump has repeatedly claimed that Iran is willing to hand over its 'nuclear dust' to the US, but Tehran has denied any such agreement.
The 'nuclear dust' in question refers to highly enriched uranium buried deep beneath the ground following US strikes on Iranian nuclear facilities in June last year.
Iran has over 400 kg of 60% highly enriched uranium and nearly 200 kg of 20% fissile material, which can be easily converted into 90% weapons-grade uranium, sparking concerns from the US and Israel.
Tehran insists its uranium enrichment is for power generation and energy security, not a nuclear weapon.
The US-Iran nuclear deadlock has been a key point of tension between the two nations, with the US perceiving Iran's enriched uranium as a security concern.
Iranian officials have rejected the US demand to hand over its enriched uranium, calling it 'maximalist.'
