Iran has threatened to open a new front in the Bab al-Mandab Strait if provoked or attacked, according to a military source cited by the Tasnim news agency.

The Strait, which lies between Yemen and Djibouti, is a strategic waterway through which a fifth of the world's oil is shipped.

This comes as Iran's Parliament speaker, Mohammad Ghalibaf, warned of 'relentless attacks' on a regional country that he claimed was supporting the US in plans to occupy an Iranian island.

Iran is also reviewing a US proposal to end the conflict in West Asia, despite initial negative responses.

Iranian foreign minister Abbas Araghchi said that while Tehran is reviewing the proposals, the country has no intention to negotiate with the US.

White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt issued a warning to Iran, saying President Trump 'does not bluff and is prepared to unleash hell' if Tehran does not accept its defeat.
