US Vice President JD Vance claims Israel has proposed to restrain itself in Lebanon as long as US-Iran talks are taking place, Axios reported.

The fragile ceasefire between the US and Iran was put in jeopardy after Israel launched massive strikes on Lebanon, killing at least 254 people and leaving nearly 900 wounded.

According to Vance, there was a 'legitimate misunderstanding' between the US and Iran over the ceasefire in Lebanon, with Iran thinking the ceasefire included Lebanon, which it did not.

Israel has offered to 'check themselves a bit' in Lebanon to ensure the success of the US-Iran negotiations, Vance said.

Lebanon declared a national day of mourning after the deadly strikes, which shook the fragile truce less than 48 hours after it came into force.
