Hundreds of Israeli protesters gathered in Tel Aviv and other cities on Saturday to protest the war in the Middle East, despite security forces' efforts to disperse them.

The protests, which have been taking place weekly since February 28, initially drew only a few dozen participants but now appear to be rising in numbers.

Former parliamentarians and prominent left-wing organisations joined the rallies, including Standing Together, Peace Now and Women Wage Peace.

Law enforcement officers were seen removing demonstrators in Tel Aviv and Haifa, with at least four people detained and 18 arrested.

Organisers claim the government fears the expansion of the protest movement, while a poll shows public support for the war against Iran remains high in Israel, with 78% of Jewish Israelis backing it.
