The National Center for Seismology confirmed the earthquake's magnitude, while the Japan Meteorological Agency reported a maximum seismic intensity of 6-upper in the affected area.
There is no concern about a tsunami, and the Prime Minister's Office has set up a task force to respond to the disaster, with the Prime Minister receiving detailed reports and taking charge of the disaster response.
