US Vice President JD Vance said that Islamabad peace talks between Iran and the US have fallen flat, with no deal reached after nearly 14 hours of negotiations.
Vance stated that the failure to reach an agreement was 'bad news for Iran' more than for the United States, as the US team headed back without a deal.
The talks, mediated by Pakistan, aimed to de-escalate the flare-up between Iran and the US, but Iran refused to accept American terms not to develop a nuclear weapon.
Vance disclosed that the two sides had substantive discussions, but the US needs an affirmative commitment from Iran to not seek a nuclear weapon.
Iran's foreign ministry spokesperson Esmail Baghaei expressed mistrust towards the US, citing America's breach of promises and misdeeds.
