Labor Secretary Lori Chavez-Deremer resigned from her position, citing a move to the private sector. Her deputy, Keith Sonderling, will serve as acting secretary. The resignation comes amid a series of misconduct allegations against Chavez-Deremer and her top staffers.

Allegations include an extramarital affair with a security detail member, drinking on the job, and having aides create official events to aid her travel plans. Four people have left the Labor Department amid the investigation.

Chavez-Deremer's husband, Dr. Shawn DeRemer, was barred from the Labor Department after at least two staffers accused him of sexual harassment. Her father also sent personal texts to young female staffers, and she urged them to 'pay attention' to her husband and father.

Chavez-Deremer is married to Dr. Shawn DeRemer, an anesthologist, and they have twin daughters. She is taking a private sector position after resigning from her current post.
