LaGuardia Airport Crash: 5 Key Facts on Air Canada Plane Collision

An Air Canada plane collided with a firetruck at LaGuardia Airport, resulting in the deaths of the pilot and co-pilot.

An Air Canada plane landing at LaGuardia Airport struck a firetruck on the runway, killing the pilot and co-pilot and injuring two Port Authority police officers.

The incident occurred at 11:30 p.m. on Sunday, with the plane colliding with a Port Authority firetruck operated by police officers that was situated on the runway.

Both Port Authority workers sustained non-life-threatening injuries, while the pilot and co-pilot were based out of Canada.

The airport will remain closed until at least 2 p.m. on Monday to assist with the National Transportation Safety Board's probe.

A total of 72 passengers and four crew members were on board the aircraft, which was a Jazz Aviation flight operating for Air Canada.
