A double homicide investigation is underway after the bodies of two women were found at a Sumter County home in the Shiloh Community last Wednesday. It’s a terrible thing. It saddens the community. It saddens us as a law enforcement agency to have to respond to these things,” said Hampton Gardner, Sumter County Sheriff’s Office Chief Deputy.Gardner stated that the home had no signs of forced entry. Autopsies for the victims are scheduled to be performed on Tuesday.Gardner also said that it appears the shooting happened sometime between August 29 and August 30. Officials said that it is believed that there is no larger threat to the community.The murders shake the close-knit communityThe close-knit community was shaken by the brutal murders.
