Long Island Teen's Body Found in Brooklyn Waters: Was Roblox Link a Factor?

Thomas Medlin, a 15-year-old from Long Island, New York, was found dead in Brooklyn waters two months after he went missing. Medlin's mother initially stated that he left to meet someone he met online through Roblox, but police have ruled out any connection between the online gaming platform and his disappearance.
Medlin was last seen on January 9, 2026, heading into Manhattan from his home in Long Island. Surveillance footage showed him pacing the Manhattan Bridge, but moments later, a splash was recorded in the East River. His body was recovered from waters off Red Hook in Brooklyn on March 7.
Police reviewed Medlin's social media and online gaming profiles and determined that they were 'not connected' to his disappearance. A Roblox spokesperson stated that the platform is 'built with safety at its core' and offers parental controls to disable in-game chat functions.
