Louisiana Man Charged After Plowing Car into Crowd at Lao New Year Festival

Todd Landry has been charged after several people were injured after he drove into a crowd of parade-goers at the Louisiana Lao New Year Festival.

A 57-year-old man from Louisiana has been charged after at least 15 people were injured in a car crash during the Louisiana Lao New Year Festival in Iberia Parish.

The incident occurred on March 4 at around 2:30 p.m. local time, with the driver, Todd Landry, showing signs of impairment and a blood alcohol content of 0.137 percent, nearly twice the legal limit.

Landry has been charged with driving while impaired, 18 counts of first-degree negligent injuring, careless operation, and open container, and has been booked into the Iberia Parish jail.

The Iberia Parish Sheriff's Office has stated that the crash did not appear to be intentional, with at least four people reported to be in critical condition.

The festival organizers have canceled tonight's music programs and redirected security resources to the scene, with vendors remaining open until 9:00 PM.
