Meta plans to lay off 10% of its workforce, about 8,000 employees, on May 20. Those affected will receive a generous severance package, including 16 weeks of base pay plus two weeks for every year of employment in the US.

The company will also cover the cost of COBRA health care coverage for US employees and their families for 18 months.

Outside the US, packages will vary by country, but Meta will offer career services and immigration support for those who need it.
