Former FBI director Robert Mueller has passed away at the age of 81, leaving behind a legacy of investigations into Donald Trump's presidential campaign.

President Trump responded to the news of Mueller's death with a tweet, writing 'Good, I'm glad he's dead. He can no longer hurt innocent people! President DONALD J. TRUMP.'

Mueller was among a group of people subpoenaed by the House Oversight Committee for records linked to Jeffrey Epstein, the late convicted child sex offender.

The files related to Epstein revealed a communication from Nicholas Ribis to Epstein, stating 'Robert Mueller appointed Special Counsel on Russian Probe bad for DJT', referring to Donald Trump.

Mueller's investigation into Russia-Trump ties resulted in a 448-page report, which identified substantial contacts between the Trump campaign and Russia but did not allege a criminal conspiracy.
