US President Donald Trump expressed uncertainty over the fate of Iran's Supreme Leader Ayatollah Mojtaba Khamenei, suggesting he could be 'badly disfigured or dead.'
The remarks came after Pentagon chief Pete Hegseth said the leader was believed to have been injured in a strike.
Mojtaba Khamenei, the 56-year-old son of the late leader Ali Khamenei, has not appeared in public since the start of the war.
A report by The New York Times quoted three Iranian officials as saying that Mojtaba was hurt in a strike by the US and Israel on the first day of the war, suffering a minor leg injury.
Iran's foreign minister Abbas Araqchi has rejected claims about the health of the country's new supreme leader, saying there are no concerns over his condition.
