NASA has shared an image of the Moon captured by the Artemis II crew, showcasing the entire Orientale Basin on the right edge of the lunar disk, a first for human eyes.
The image was taken during the crew's mission to fly around the Moon and photograph its mysterious far side, a journey that marks the first crewed lunar mission in over 53 years.
The crew, consisting of three Americans and one Canadian, is onboard the Orion spacecraft, which is expected to reach its destination on Monday.
The Artemis II mission aims to photograph the Moon's far side and break distance records for human spaceflight, traveling over 252,000 miles from Earth before looping around the Moon and heading back without landing or entering lunar orbit.
However, the crew soon encountered a challenge: a malfunctioning toilet, which has been temporarily fixed with backup urine collection bags.
