Nepal's Home Minister Sudan Gurung has resigned from his post, less than a month after taking oath, amid growing criticisms over his alleged business links and financial conduct.

Gurung, who jailed former Prime Minister K P Oli and Home Minister Ramesh Lekhak within 24 hours of assuming office, tendered his resignation to ensure an impartial investigation into his financial dealings.

He cited the importance of ethics and public trust, saying 'For me, ethics is greater than position, and there is no greater force than public trust.'

Gurung's resignation comes amid the ongoing Gen Z movement in Nepal, which demands good governance, transparency, and accountability.

Prime Minister Balendra Shah has taken over the Home Ministry portfolio following Gurung's resignation.
